"What’s interesting about this Milwaukee group’s self-released debut is that while it’s as hard as the name implies, it seems to defy categorization. Certainly, heavy metal would be the easiest bin in which to drop it, but it also has elements of punk, especially in the lyrics and vocal style, and the occasional synthesizer bursts lend a trippy characteristic that makes the group sound more like Pink Floyd at their heaviest than anything else."

"The songs on The Heavy conjure up visions of Metallica with their intensity, or Alice in Chains when it comes to the mood of the songs. Throughout the 11 tracks on the album, the band shows the talent they pocess. In my opinion, with songs like Angry Sunday, Truth, all the way to the closer of Insects and Intellect, the band’s album of The Heavy will demand many repeat listenings. If you like Heavy Metal of Hardcore music, Dad The Plow is a band you need to check out."

"It is here............... and just in time to blow your windows out. Waukesha, WI. heavy rock band DAD THE PLOW has turned out a CD that will be turning some heads in the hard rock community. The band, only a three piece, is made up of Chris Howard on lead vocals & bass, Remo on guitar, guitar synth, & keyboards, and Mike Runge on drums. The new CD is called "The Heavy" and the title fits. From the crunch of the opening track "Angry Sunday" to the rumbling, bone crunching "Truth", this CD has the punch to take care of any hard rock listener. I have seen DAD THE PLOW several times and their live show is great. Amazing musicianship combined with a great interaction with the crowd.
When listening to them live, or listening to the new CD, one can’t help but ask why this band isn’t bigger than it is. With a sound that begs to be played on the radio, DAD THE PLOW also plays with a sound and identity all their own. Chris Howard's vocals are great, singing with a low haunting sound that is clear and controlled. Howard's bass playing blends well with Mike Runge's drumming. Runge plays with an effortless style that is still heavy enough to power the band. All guitar duties are left to Remo. It’s hard to listen to this CD and remember that there are only three people in the band. Remo's work on the keyboards & guitar synth give a wide range of sounds to the band but don’t worry all you metal heads, the sound is still heavy and never gets that "pop" feel that many keyboards tend to give off.
The guitar playing on the CD is something to hear. Remo plays like a demon on this CD but never plays over the band. All of the members stay locked in the mix and the sound on the CD is one of the best I have ever heard. If your wondering what that heavy rumbling sound is that is coming from the Waukesha area, then check out DAD THE PLOW at www.dadtheplow.com or at www.myspace.com/dadtheplow.
You can order the new CD from CDBaby.com or on the bands MySpace page. A second CD release party is scheduled for March 29th, 2008 at the Main Stage in Waukesha. Mother Nature stopped the first one. Buy one.....slide it in.....and get "Heavy".
